Bellamy Brothers - Country Music
Howard and David Bellamy grew up in Florida listening to their dad, Homer, play country music in a band. Their first gig was playing for free under a tree with their dad. Their music took them to Atlanta where they played Top 40 and Rhythm and Blues. David Bellamy enjoyed writing songs, and wrote Spiders and Snakes, a smash hit for Jim Stafford, and the brothers moved to Stafford's home in Los Angeles.
Their first smash hit as a duo was "Let Your Love Flow", which ranked #1 on the pop charts in 10 countries. The Bellamy Brothers had their first country hit in 1979 with a song David wrote called "If I Said You Have a Beautiful Body (Would You Hold It Against Me). Beautiful Body was the first of 14 number one singles. "You'll Never Be Sorry" stayed on the country charts for twenty-seven weeks.
Other hits include "Redneck Girl" and "Old Hippie", which is a favorite of the brothers as well as their fans. Since 1979, they were consistently nominated as Duo of the Year by the Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music.
They formed their own record label, Bellamy Brothers Records. They currently lives at their family's 2500 acre cattle ranch in Darby, Florida where Howard was born on February 2, 1946, and David was born on September 16, 1950.
