Big and Rich - Country Music
John Rich and Big Kenny were two struggling artists who happened to meet in 1998, eventually forming the fun and sometimes outlandish duo Big and Rich. John Rich had been fired from the band Lonestar, and reluctantly went with a friend to listen to Big Kenny perform. After the show, they made arrangements to do some songwriting together. Eventually, the group started playing in each other's shows, and sharing the stage at Nashville's Pub of Love with James Otto and Jon Nicholson.
As their popularity grew, so did the group of now weekly performers, who dubbed themselves the Muzik Mafia. Rich and Kenny started performing together, and had songwriting success with "She's a Butterfly", which was included on one of Martina McBride's albums.
Warner Brothers listened to them, and signed the Big and Rich act on the spot. Giving country fans music that is to the extreme, they are indeed a Horse of a Different Color, which is the name of their 2004 album. Horse of a Different Color brought them the smash hit single, "Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy". Their second album, Comin' to Your City continues to push the envelope. Taking a line from their hit and the title track, they continue to "put a little yang in your ying yang".
