Country Music - Billy Currington

Born in the little town of Rincon, Georgia, Billy Currington's influence came from superstar Kenny Rogers and shows his appreciation to Rogers by including a cover of Rogers' "Lucille" on one of his albums. Currington bought his first guitar when he was 17 and began writing songs. Singing at church, he made such an impression that the preacher drove him to Nashville for an audition. Eventually moving there, he found work driving a concrete truck, working long hours six days a week. With little time for pursuing his dream, Billy quit his job and took a part-time job as a trainer at a local gym. Through contacts at the gym, he landed a publishing contract, and debuted in 2003 with his eponymous CD, which contained "Walk a Little Straighter", a song he wrote about his alcoholic father. Shania Twain took notice and invited him to perform the hit country duet "Party for Two". Playboy Magazine Currington on its cover in March 2005 spawning his bachelor image. In keeping with his roots in country and the simple life, Billy's hit single "Must Be Doin' Something Right" proved that he indeed must be.
