Blackhawk - Country Music

In the early 1990's, three songwriters and musicians became a group called Blackhawk, providing country music with tantalizing three-part harmonies and unique songs. Their first release gave instant stardom to Henry Paul (lead vocals, mandolin), Van Stephenson (guitar, vocals), and Dave Robbins (keyboards, vocals). The album entitled "BlackHawk" went platinum with four hit singles including the number one single "Goodbye Says It All". Strong Enough, their second album, also went platinum.

In 1998, the group suffered tragedy when Stephenson was diagnosed with cancer, which eventually took his life. Band members stepped up and sang the vocals for the missing singer, and BlackHawk picked up the pieces and regrouped.

Much of their success is credited to the diverse backgrounds that Henry Paul and Dave Robbins bring to their music. Paul was born in New York and moved to Florida with his mother after his parents divorced. He spent the summer working in the fields with his father in the Catskills Mountains. With a fondness for folk music, Paul moved to Greenwich Village, New York, after high school playing in coffeehouses. Dave Robbins spent his childhood growing up in Atlanta. He learned to play the piano, eventually joining garage bands. Robbins was serious about his music and moved to Nashville to study music at the Belmont University.
