Country Music - Brooks and Dunn

Ronnie Dunn and Kix Brooks are a force to be reckoned with. The Brooks and Dunn duo are hard core country singers who give us songs about real country, honky tonks, beer joints, and join those ideas with their past to make songs which are undeniably theirs. Ronnie grew moving frequently with a dad who was trying to find himself in honky tonks, and a mom who turned to the Bible. Dunn left school for music, playing bass in beer joints around Tulsa. Kix Brooks was raised in Louisiana, and played for rowdy, fun loving crowds, opening for acts such as the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and George Thorogood. Both men caught Nashville's attention and were brought together by Artista Records, Dunn is the lead vocalist, while Brooks jams on the guitar. Their first album ÔBrand New Man' produced five number one hits, and Brooks and Dunn were on their way. Named CMA Entertainer of the Year in 1996, their remake of "My Maria" held it's number one spot for three weeks. Their hits include "That Ain't No Way to Go", "She's Not the Cheatin' Kind", "Rock My World Little Country Girl", and "You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone". It would be hard to mention the name Brooks and Dunn without mentioning "Red Dirt Road", their 2003 smash hit based on Dunn's upbringing around honky tonks and churches. The duo has received numerous awards including Entertainer of the Year and Duo of the Year.
