Donna Fargo - Country Music
In 1972, Donna Fargo emerged on the country scene as one of the only female artists who wrote her own songs. Best known for the 1972 hit "I'm the Happiest Girl in the Whole USA" and "Funny Face", Donna became the first female artist in country music history to have back-to-back million selling singles.
Her sweet voice earned her numerous awards in 1972, including a Grammy and Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association's Single of the Year awards. She continued to deliver upbeat songs that crossed over into the pop charts through the 70's, with over a dozen singles in the Top Ten on country music charts.
In the late 70's, Fargo hosted the Donna Fargo Show, a television show produced by the Osmond Family. After developing multiple sclerosis in 1979, Donna Fargo continued to write songs and perform, but faded from the charts. A skilled songwriter, Donna also wrote an inspirational book of prose and poetry, entitled Trust in Yourself. The Blue Mountain Arts company includes her writings in their Poets and Artists greeting cards.
