Adding insult to injury, Supernaw then developed a severe case of food poisoning which almost cost his life. With most odds against him, he emerged a survivor, and in 1994 he released Deep Thoughts From a Shallow Mind. he survived and in 1994 issued his delayed BNA follow-up, Deep Thoughts From a Shallow Mind. Supernaw's career suffered further with arrests in 2002, when he was charged with assault on a peace officer and resisting arrest, and again in 2005 he faced charges of public intoxication. For years, he has assisted others, and has provided financial assistance to a Chicago area child with AIDS for years.
