Lisa Brokop - Country Music
Lisa Brokop's was born in suburban Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. According to her parents, she was singing before she was talking and was playing the accordion on stage at the age of seven. By the time Lisa was 12, she was already a member of a band and went solo at the age of 17. When she was 19, Lisa found herself in films, playing a female country singer in the movie, Harmony Cats. Shortly after, she was awarded a recording contract with Capitol Records and released "Every Little Girls Dream" which was certified Gold in Canada.
In 1996, after splitting with her record label, Lisa took some time off to reflect on her career and her life. During this time, she spent her time writing songs, finding that she was quite talented. Songwriting produced the drive and determination to return to singing. Joining with Columbia Records, her comeback album, "When You Get to Be You" was released in Canada.
The 2005 release of "Hey, Do You Know Me", has spawned the beginning of many Canadian nominations and awards for Lisa Brokop, including Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Female Artist of the Year. Lisa won the British Columbia Country Music Association's Outstanding National/International Achievement Award in 2005. She indeed has come full circle.
