Rodney Atkins - Country Music
Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on March 28, 1969, Rodney Atkins was a sick child who had two sets of adoptive parents returned him to the hospital. The third set finally adopted him and raised him in Cumberland Gap, TN. His parents grew up with their own struggles. His mom was a member of a mining family, and his father grew up in poverty.
Rodney spent his childhood playing baseball and the guitar, finding himself playing in bands at fairs and music festivals. He majored in psychology at Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, and traveled to Nashville to write songs and play in gigs around town.
Rodney's family has always been important to him. He worked his way through college, and met his future wife while driving a delivery truck. He was signed to Curb Records and released his hit single "Honesty (Write Me a List)" in 2003. Honesty ranked in the Top 5 of the charts.
Rodney has a studio in his house, and lays down the vocals for his songs in between chores and spending time with his family. He gives strong consideration to the songs he sings, preferring to give the fans what they want to hear: songs about everyday life.
