Suzy Bogguss - Country Music
Suzy Bogguss grew up in a farm family in Aledo, Illinois. She went to college at Illinois State University, earning a degree in metalsmithery. While going to school, Suzy sang in clubs to support herself. Spending several years touring out of a van, she landed a residency a restaurant in Nashville.
Capitol Records heard a tape she made in 1986, and offered her a contract. By 1989, Suzy was in the Top 15 singing "Cross my Broken Heart". It was in 1991, however, that her album "Aces" gave her three Top 10 hits: "Aces", "Letting Go" and "Outbound Plane. The Country Music Academy awarded her the Horizon Award for Most Promising Artist in 1992.
Suzy received the CMA Album of the Year award in 1994. Her success continued to climb, and in 1995 she reached the Number Two spot with John Hiatt's "Drive South". She was later awarded the title Top New Female Vocalist in 1998 by the Academy of Country Music.
Suzy Bogguss became the vocalist for some of Coca Cola's commercial. She also designs most of her own stagewear, as well as a line of leather apparel which was carried by Nordstrom stores. Married to songwriter Doug Crider, they have one son, Benton Charles.
